The Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Compliance Officer - Contracts will assist management to ensure that our operations and business transactions comply with all relevant legal and internal guidelines pertaining to our contractual obligations, with a primary focus on statutory and contractual governance. You will draw on your experience to assess risks, review documentation, suggest improvements, and take ownership of implementation of any accepted recommendations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to join our team and make this newly created role their own.

Responsibilities Associated With The Role But Not Limited To
- Develop and implement an effective governance and compliance program.
- Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them.
- Draft and revise company policies.
- Conduct initial review and draft alternate clauses for customer and supplier contracts, deeds and agreements.
- Proactively audit company procedures, practices and documents to identify weaknesses in controls.
- Evaluate new and ongoing business activities to assess compliance risk.
- Develop, document and maintain compliance violation management plans.
- Collaborate with and support other departments with general legal perspective.
- Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices.
- Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals.
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Tertiary qualification in law, finance, business management, or a related field or at least 3 years of proven experience as a Compliance Officer.
- Experience in risk management.
- Knowledge of legal requirements and controls (e.g. Anti-Money Laundering, Modern Slavery, Privacy, etc)
- Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Integrity and professional ethics.
- Keen business acumen.
- Acute attention to detail.
