The Salary range is $37.35 to $40.05 per hour. Hourly rate based on experience.

The Role

As a Youth Worker - CIS, you’ll be part of a dedicated team providing direct care, guidance, and support to children and young people in out-of-home care. You’ll help create safe, nurturing environments where young people can heal, grow, and thrive.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about youth work, understands the complexities of trauma and disadvantage, and is ready to be a positive role model in a young person’s life.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide day-to-day care and support aligned with each young person’s individual care plan.
  • Build trusting relationships and implement age-appropriate strategies to encourage positive behaviour.
  • Facilitate meaningful activities that promote development, resilience, and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate, professional documentation and reports.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support culturally safe practices, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
  • Transport young people safely in line with organisational and legal guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or Certificate III in Community Services (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children, young people, or families in a community or care setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Current driver’s licence (P2 or above).
  • Willingness to obtain a Blue Card, National Police Check, and LCS screening.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999 and Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
