As the SAP S/4HANA Functional Lead (FICO) at Downer, you will be instrumental in managing and supporting our SAP S/4HANA and ECC landscapes with a focus on Financial Accounting and Controlling (FICO). You will lead the design, configuration, and implementation of robust SAP solutions that support strategic and operational business outcomes. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, vendors, and senior stakeholders, as well as deep understanding of the RISE with SAP environment.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Delivery & Functional Leadership
- Lead and manage the SAP S/4HANA FICO module across project and BAU environments.
- Ensure solution design aligns with Downer's business rules and strategic direction.
- Prepare high-quality functional specifications and documentation.
- Maximise use of standard SAP functionality; minimise customisation unless justified by tangible business benefit.
- Collaborate across streams and with business users to ensure end-to-end process integrity.
- Actively participate in and challenge design workshops to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Support data migration, reporting, testing, and integration workstreams as required.
- Provide expert guidance during Fit-to-Standard design sessions.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to SAP development standards and Downer's quality frameworks.
- Escalate design conflicts and risks to the appropriate forums for timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate documentation of solution design, configuration rationale, and technical decisions.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Provide trusted advisory support to the ERP Platform Manager and broader leadership.
- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions to build awareness and capability in new processes and systems.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead and mentor a distributed support team (including 32 partner support staff).
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
- Foster a culture of safety, inclusion, and performance.
Customer Focus & Business Acumen
- Proactively identify and resolve customer pain points.
- Seek feedback to enhance user experience and system performance.
- Understand broader business needs and how SAP FICO solutions support commercial and financial objectives.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- SAP S/4HANA Certification (FICO module) preferred.
Technical & Functional Expertise
- Minimum 3-5 years in a Functional Lead role within SAP environments.
- Proven experience in at least one full SAP S/4HANA implementation (Brownfield or Greenfield).
- Deep knowledge of S/4HANA FICO, with understanding of integration points across modules (e.g., MM, SD, PS).
- Experience in RISE with SAP, BTP, BW/BO, ALM, Datasphere, CPI, and Fiori.
- Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology and agile delivery frameworks.

- Experience working in Onshore-Offshore support model.
