SUMMARY: Under the directive of the Black Oak Casino General Manager, assist in the direction, administration, and coordination of all activities of the Casino (and Resort where applicable) to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations, maximizing the full potential in accordance with the policies and objectives established by TEDA Inc. and the Casino, with the ultimate objective of providing the maximum profit, return on investment, and guest, team member, and owner satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: (Specific areas of responsibility including, but not limited to)

  • Assist in the development and direction of policies and plans for the establishment of management and operational objectives for the organization, including gaming operations, guest service, and complaint management to meet the objectives of the company’s Mission Statement.
  • Assist in managing the casino’s budget, tracking expenses, and ensuring profitability, including review and execution of business/marketing plans, to exceed financial expectations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of all casino policies and procedures to ensure conformity with our jurisdictional and industry regulations, internal controls, and related rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Help to develop and implement marketing strategies and promotional programs, often in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Ensure through on-going training, personal examples, and the prompt resolution of issues, that a maximum level of excellent Guest service and satisfaction is maintained throughout the property at all times.
  • Supervise and assist casino Team Members to ensure proper training and performance, conflict and performance issue resolution, maintenance of a positive work culture to foster motivation and development, and as a point of contact between Team Members and management.
  • Contribute to risk management efforts, identifying and mitigating potential risks related to gaming operations.
  • Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to gaming trends and customer behavior.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Must possess a B.S. or equivalent number of years of experience in the hospitality/casino industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ management experience with at least 5 years at an executive level.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and effective public speaking skills.
  • Must possess exceptional leadership skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries and correspondence from Guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Tribal/State Gaming Compact, Tribal Internal Control Standards, and all regulatory requirements necessary for the proper and legal operation of the Casino.
  • Must complete Responsible Alcohol Service certification or have proof of current certification.
  • Must complete California Food Handlers certification or have proof of current certification.
  • Must compete Blood Borne Pathogen and Title 31 training.
  • Must possess a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Must be able to communicate proficiently in English.
  • Must be able to pass a mandatory drug test and background check.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid gaming license.
  • Must provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must complete Responsible Alcohol Service certification or have proof of current certification.
  • Must possess the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team, fostering collaboration and teamwork.
  • Must possess knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices with the ability to compile facts/figures and analyze information that involves data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must be able to travel when needed.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining professional, flexible, and efficient.
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California drivers’ license and Black Oak Casino driver’s permit.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally more with assistance.
  • Exposure to hazards or physical risks requires following basic safety precautions and use of applicable personal protective equipment.
  • Must be physically able to perform all job requirements.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and special events
  • Must be able to work in a non-smoke-free environment.
