Job Overview We’re not just creating artwork, we’re building immersive worlds, defining unforgettable characters, and shaping the artistic language of groundbreaking games As our Lead Concept Artist, you’ll take ownership of visual development, guiding the art creation across all products while setting the artistic direction for the studio’s evolving style. This is a high-impact leadership role, combining technical expertise with creative vision. You’ll direct internal artists and external vendors, ensuring top-tier quality while leveraging Unreal Engine 5 and industry-standard game development tools to refine concept designs from ideation to production-ready assets With a clear career pathway to Art Director, this is your chance to lead, inspire and define the future of game artistry
What will you do?
- Own and lead the concept design pipeline, establishing visual consistency across all products.
- Define and drive the visual development for assets, props, characters, environment, skyboxes and VFX.
- Lead a team of artists, mentoring and guiding them to achieve artistic excellence.
- Establish a distinct artistic style that aligns with project vision and enhances world-building.
- Oversee the concept art pipeline, ensuring asset transition seamlessly from ideation to production.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop high-quality promotional materials that align with the studio’s visual identity.
- Maintain the consistency and innovation of all visual asset across new and existing products.
What are we looking for?
- Lead or Senior Concept Artist with a strong track record in game development.
- Extensive experience in Unreal Engine 5, utilising it for concept visualisation and asset development.
- A portfolio showcasing diverse artistic styles, with expertise in character, environment, and world-building designs.
- Mastery of illustration, composition, lighting, colour theory and storytelling through concept art.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and other digital painting tools, with experience integrating concept art into game engines.
- Leadership experience in mentoring, directing artists, and managing outsourced teams.
- Experience in leading art direction on shipped games or major projects.
- Ability to develop distinct artistic identities while maintaining visual flexibility across different projects.
- No formal degree required, but practical experience is essential.
- Demonstrated ownership of shipped projects or pipeline systems is highly regarded.
- Prior experience in leading art teams, integrating concept designs into game engines and collaborating with technical artists is highly valued
- Expertise in game industry standard tools like Zbrush, Blender, Maya or Houdini for concept visualisation.
- Strong VFX and skybox design experience, optimising assets for immersive environments.
- Knowledge of marketing visuals, key art and branding materials.
- Ability to bridge artistic vision with technical execution, ensuring seamless integration of assets into production workflows.
