We're seeking a dedicated Risk Manager to lead and elevate our enterprise risk management, assurance, and policy frameworks.
How You Can Make a Difference
As the Risk Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in embedding risk management, policy compliance, and continuous improvement across the organisation. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will develop and deliver long-term strategies that enhance risk maturity at the strategic, operational, and project levels.
You'll own the enterprise-wide risk management, policy, and continuous improvement frameworks, providing expert advice and leadership to the business, Board, and Committees. This is a highly influential role focused on protecting and enhancing our reputation, data, finances, and people.
In this permanent full-time role, you will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between home and our Melbourne CBD office.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead the organisation's risk management, internal audit, assurance, and policy frameworks.
- Develop and drive enterprise-wide risk and assurance strategies.
- Integrate risk management practices with business strategies and operations.
- Oversee the policy framework and ensure compliance across the organisation.
- Coordinate insurance reviews and manage external broker relationships.
- Guide reporting and analytics on risk, including developing key risk indicators.
- Support project and functional leaders to embed risk and compliance practices.
- Partner with the internal audit provider to deliver quality, value-adding audits.
- Promote a positive risk culture through training, tools, and leadership.
- Provide strategic reports to the Board, Committees, and Executive Leadership Team.
What You'll Bring
- Demonstrated and extensive knowledge of risk management in the Australian corporate environment, particularly in a not-for-profit or charitable setting.
- Experience in delivering presentations and/or educational seminars to Boards, Board Sub-Committees, executive management, and senior staff.
- Experience overseeing and implementing risk management and assurance frameworks.
- Ability to quickly adjust priorities and direction to meet changing needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with great attention to detail.
- Ability to explain complex ideas clearly using different communication methods.
- Proactive in learning new things and building strong relationships.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to manage time and tasks well, even under pressure.
- Can work independently and lead others to meet goals and deadlines.
- Works well with others and supports a team environment.
Bonus Points For
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business Management, Finance or other related discipline.
- Previous experience in NFP, charity or adjacent sector.
