About The Role
We’re seeking a visionary Principal Data Analyst who thrives on deconstructing ‘blue-sky’ business challenges – especially within the Banking & financial services arena-into their core components., You’ll transform complex, strategic questions into actionable insights that drive decisions at the exec levels to deliver tangible commercial outcomes.
You’ll be at the intersection of analytics and strategy—translating nuanced data into insights that will unlock growth opportunities, optimise customer journeys, & drive performance. You will turn raw numbers into compelling narratives that influence leadership direction and fuel strategic initiatives.
Additionally, you’ll lead by example—setting high standards in analytics, mentoring talent across the team, and building scalable frameworks that empower informed decision-making. What You’ll Be Doing
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Product, Marketing, and Operations to define key business problems and shape data-led solutions
- Translate complex data into actionable, commercially relevant insights that drive real outcomes and present these at leadership forums.
- You will work with the data scientists to build machine learning models to optimise customer experience (e.g. churn, lead scoring, cross-sell)
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable reporting and analytics assets, particularly through Power BI
- Advocate for and embed best practice data visualisation and storytelling across the organisation
- Use your understanding of the business to prioritise work that delivers value - fast
- Mentor junior analysts and uplift data capability across business units
- Work closely with data engineers, product owners and data scientists to align on technical execution and strategic priorities
- Advanced SQL and proficiency in tools like Python or DBT for complex data analysis
- Deep technical expertise in Power BI with a strong portfolio of scalable, business-friendly dashboards
- Strong commercial acumen and experience solving strategic business problems with data
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally, influencing stakeholders at all levels
- Experience delivering end-to-end insights projects—from discovery through to impact measurement
- Demonstrated experience working with large, complex datasets (ideally in financial services)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to tell compelling stories with data
- Experience with predictive modelling or machine learning (e.g., churn, segmentation, lead scoring)
- Demonstrated experience in building robust analytical assets and pipelines (automated or repeated processes and general-purpose view/table structures supporting analytics/insights).
- Consulting or Agency experience
- Experience with Databricks or cloud-based data platforms
- Familiarity with digital and marketing data (Google Analytics, Tealium, Adobe, etc.)
- Exposure to customer journey analytics, data vault or Kimball methodologies
- Experience with version control and code management tools like GitHub or Bitbucket
