About The Role

As a Senior Accountant you’ll report into the Team Leader (Director) and Senior Manager. You will have the opportunity to oversee and support an offshore team member. Your main roles and responsibilities will be:

  • Take the lead on client liaison with a selected number of clients, supported by your Manager/ Director
  • Delegate to, review, provide feedback and training to junior team members
  • Review and finalise tax returns for individuals, BAS and other entities as required after preparation by junior team member
  • Review payrolls after preparation by junior team member
  • Review/ prepare group accounts and workpapers for complex entities, including proper use of lead sheets
  • Prepare complex GST reconciliations
  • Prepare complex FBT returns and identify issues
  • Review client trust deeds to ensure accounts and distributions are in accordance with the terms of the deed
  • Research complex tax issues e.g., CGT, tax residency, PSI
  • Undertake tax planning calculations and analysis and present to Manager/Director
  • Prepare/analyse relevant calculations for review using templates where required (eg hire purchase, motor vehicle, Div 7A loan repayments, borrowing cost amortisation, tax planning), with guidance from Manager/Director as required
  • Assist Manager/ Director with identifying issues and opportunities for the client – eg structuring, other services
  • Set up Xero files and train clients

In addition to the above, you'll need to have gained a minimum of 4 years' experience in a business services accountant role within Australia, with exposure to SMEs. You should have completed a relevant bachelor degree within Australia (majoring in accounting), and completed or nearing completion of your post-graduate qualification (CA or CPA).
