Centennial Park Cemetery Authority


Established in 1936 in the foothills of Adelaide’s inner south, with sweeping views of the city and glimpses of the ocean, Centennial Park has long been considered the state’s premier cemetery. The beautifully landscaped grounds span 40 hectares and include over 30 thoughtfully designed gardens and burial areas, three unique service spaces in their award-winning Jubilee Complex.


It is the resting place of more than 150,000 individuals, including many historic figures, and provides a valuable emotional “anchor point” for their friends and families. It is a place for family, friends and future generations to memorialise their loved ones and also an important expansive green space for the community to enjoy and explore.


Reporting directly to and working closely with the progressive, independent Board, the CEO will be responsible for shaping the vision for the organisation and maximising strategic, commercial, operational, people and community opportunities in a way that serves their communities and customers (past, present and future).


Key areas of responsibility include:


  • providing vision and strategic leadership for the organisation and The Park and acting as the public face and champion for Centennial Park;
  • leading the dedicated staff and partner network to build on the positive and compassionate culture with accountability for the high standards of service, amenity, compassion and performance;
  • building on current successes to drive opportunities for measured and appropriate business growth and long-term success, underpinned by ongoing sensitivity to community needs;
  • ensuring strong, productive and highly engaged relationships with a wide variety of industry, government and community stakeholders.


This position will suit an appropriately qualified, accomplished executive with a demonstrated track record of leadership, ideally in a community-facing organisation. Key attributes include visible and inspirational leadership, drive, energy, warmth, intellect, resilience and the capability to define, represent and achieve the organisation’s goals. High levels of enterprise and commercial acumen, complemented by superior communication and stakeholder management capacity will be important for success in this role.
