We’re an Australian success story, now close to 500 people strong, delivering secure, end-to-end digital solutions across cloud, collaboration, cyber security, data services and network infrastructure, all backed by over 20 years of experience. Trusted by some of Australia’s biggest brands, Orro leads the way in designing, building and operating digital infrastructure that delivers greater efficiency, agility, performance and resilience. Our solutions take the stress out of tech for more than 400 businesses and over 20 million Australians every single day.

Our mission? To create “future now” solutions making it faster, simpler and safer for people to access, store and share information, wherever they are and whoever they’re with. But more than that, we know that real impact comes from connecting people, not just machines. That’s why we take the time to understand our clients; how they work, what matters to them, and where they’re headed so we can deliver not just what they need today, but what they’ll need next.

With offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth, and teams across New Zealand, the Philippines and the UK, Orro is known for delivering future-ready solutions, backed by deep expertise, genuine human insight and lasting partnerships.

About The Role

As a key member of Orro’s Commercial Team, the Commercial Lawyer will play a pivotal role in enabling the business to navigate contracts and commercial arrangements with customers, partners and suppliers efficiently, strategically and compliantly. You’ll be responsible for managing commercial agreements end to end, providing clear and practical legal advice across the business, and proactively identifying and mitigating legal risks.

But this isn’t your standard legal role. As Orro’s first full-time, permanent in-house legal hire, this is a genuine blank canvas, created to support our ongoing growth and ensure we meet our strategic objectives while confidently navigating legal and regulatory requirements. We're looking for someone with real commercial curiosity and a passion for solving problems, improving how things are done, and shaping how Legal partners with the business. If you see a smarter, more efficient way to work, we want to hear it. Your voice will be valued, and your expertise will make a meaningful impact from day one.

Your core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts with customers, partners and suppliers.
  • Providing clear, strategic legal advice to the commercial team and other departments across the business.
  • Identifying and mitigating legal risks tied to day-to-day operations and broader commercial initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
  • Designing and implementing smarter policies and procedures to streamline how we manage contracts.
  • Supporting dispute resolution and litigation matters when they arise, helping the business navigate challenges with confidence.

About You

We’re looking for a commercially minded legal professional with a solid grounding in commercial law, sharp negotiation skills, and the confidence to work closely with stakeholders across sales, finance, product and executive leadership.

Education & Experience

  • A law degree from an accredited institution.
  • Around 3 years PQE in commercial law, ideally gained in a well-regarded firm or in-house legal team.
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements, with a strong understanding of commercial law, contract management and risk mitigation.

You’ll Thrive In This Role If You

  • Know how to translate complex legal concepts into plain English, making your advice clear, actionable and commercially relevant
  • Stay calm under pressure and thrive in fast-paced, ever-evolving environments where flexibility and focus go hand in hand
  • Balance sharp analytical thinking with a practical, solutions-first mindset
  • Work confidently on your own and partner seamlessly with senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across the business, especially in a team that values humility, humour, and rolling up your sleeves to get things done
  • Bring a genuine interest in technology, innovation and business growth, and want to contribute to a culture that’s collaborative, down-to-earth and driven by impact

Even if you don’t tick every box, don’t let that hold you back. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.
