About The Team

When you join the Infrastructure Projects team, you’ll join a group of professionals delivering Australia’s future rail network. To help grow rail transport in Australia, the team is focused on ensuring the delivery of critical construction projects across the country, including implementation of our $1 billion Network Investment Program that we’ve developed with the Australian Government. Whether it’s designing, building or maintaining crucial rail infrastructure, the team plays a pivotal role in our ongoing efforts to improve network resilience and keep the future of freight on track.

About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Technical Services within the Infrastructure Projects (IP) team this role will support the team to successfully deliver ARTC Infrastructure Projects. This role plays a pivotal part in developing integrated project baselines, providing accurate cost estimates, and ensuring effective cost forecasting across the infrastructure project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Working with IP team to build integrated, credible project baselines of scope, schedule, benefits and cost
  • Assist IP team with cost forecasting, based on actual production and cost with consideration to benchmarks
  • Providing cost estimates for options analysis and cost benefit exercises
  • Facilitating project estimates to inform government investment decisions Ensuring efficient overall change management processes are in place and applied consistently across projects
  • Building (with help of data team) a Should Cost Model for ARTC Infrastructure Projects
  • Conducting Cost Risk Analysis processes
  • Assessing contractor submissions including Basis of Estimate, Variation Claims

What do we want from you?

As a highly skilled Senior Cost Engineer with extensive experience in cost estimation, forecasting, and financial analysis for large-scale infrastructure projects, you should be adept at developing integrated project baselines, conducting cost-benefit analysis to inform government investment decisions, and performing cost risk analysis and contractor submission assessments to ensure financial integrity.

Additionally you will need to be proficient in data management and version control along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills that help drive effective stakeholder engagement and project success.

Additionally You Will Be Able To Demonstrate

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Project Management)
  • Experience working an infrastructure, operations, transport or logistics sector
  • Working knowledge of various estimating packages and experience in tender bid development of >50M projects
  • High level verbal, numeracy and written skills and a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
