About The Role

Are you passionate about credit risk management and looking for a pivotal role that contributes to business objectives and overall strategy? We have an exciting opportunity for you!

As a key player in our team, your primary purpose will be to analyse, assess, structure, and make decisions on BOQ Business submissions. You will exercise an appropriate Delegated Approval Authority (DAA) or present the submission to the appropriate DAA holder.

Your additional responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring loan documentation reflects all approval conditions.
  • Conducting periodic reviews to monitor and ensure the risk-rating is appropriate.
  • Initiating and implementing remedial actions to keep the Bank's exposure within its risk appetite.
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues to promote a best-practice risk culture throughout the organisation.


You will also play a crucial role in fostering a “one-team” approach between and Business Credit through open and empathic communication, including involvement at identify business opportunities meetings or other forums.

Your Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, structuring, and approving credit submissions in accordance with BOQ’s policies and risk appetite. You’ll ensure that all loan documentation accurately reflects the conditions of approval, and conduct periodic reviews to confirm that risk ratings remain appropriate and aligned with portfolio performance. Where necessary, you will initiate and implement remedial actions to protect the Bank’s exposure and maintain the overall quality of the credit portfolio.

A key part of your role will involve mentoring and coaching team members to promote a best-practice approach to credit risk management across the organisation. You will also work closely with identify business opportunities and Business Credit teams, fostering open and empathetic communication to support a unified “one-team” culture. Your involvement in identify business opportunities meetings and other forums will help build strong cross-functional relationships and contribute to consistent, high-quality decision-making.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will bring extensive experience in credit risk management, including the exercise of credit approval authority within a major financial institution. Your strong financial acumen enables you to analyse financial statements, assess complex corporate structures, and evaluate risk factors comprehensively. You have a demonstrated ability to develop structured, tailored credit solutions that account for risk mitigation strategies, cash flow adequacy, and property or asset valuations.

Your knowledge of banking policies, regulatory expectations, and risk frameworks is robust, and you apply this expertise to ensure prudent credit decision-making. You’re an effective communicator, able to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, and you excel in preparing reports, delivering presentations, and facilitating group discussions. With a collaborative and professional approach, you can manage and prioritise tasks independently, while also maintaining a clear focus on commercial outcomes and the key drivers of business success.
