Join a collaborative, high-performing team within the Insights, Communication, and Creative division. We are seeking a dynamic Director – Communications and Engagement to lead strategic communications, consultation, and community relations initiatives across a variety of infrastructure and development projects.
About The Role
As Director – Communications and Engagement, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping how infrastructure and development projects are communicated, understood, and embraced by the community. The role includes both hands-on delivery and strategic business development across a broad range of sectors including energy, water, property, and transport.
You’ll design and implement communications and engagement strategies that ensure inclusive and meaningful dialogue with stakeholders. You'll also drive change management programs that support clients and communities through transformation, ensuring clear, timely, and effective communication throughout.
You’ll have a good understanding of the stakeholder environment in NSW and the Commonwealth, and a strong network, allowing you to help our clients protect and build reputation and manage stakeholder relationships. Within RPS, you’ll help us continue to deliver best practice frameworks, and mentor team members, ensuring every engagement is strategic, community-focused, and impactful.

About You
You are a strategic communicator and stakeholder engagement practitioner with a proven track record in infrastructure projects and stakeholder engagement. You bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Communications or a related field
- At least 10 years’ experience in developing and implementing communication, consultation, and community engagement strategies, ideally within major infrastructure or property development projects
- Experience with government investment assurance processes, including environmental approvals and for state significant infrastructure and development projects, particularly in the energy sector
- Strong background in tendering and winning work, particularly in the government or infrastructure sectors
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
- The ability to thrive under pressure, manage competing deadlines, and work independently
- A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
