About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our award-winning iHub team—an innovative, multi-disciplinary group of problem solvers dedicated to delivering smart, practical solutions to complex business challenges. Drawing on deep expertise across law, business, and technology, the team partners with clients and stakeholders to transform the way we work with AI.
We are currently seeking an AI Specialist to join our Melbourne or Sydney office. In this role, you will apply your advanced knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI to advise on and implement AI solutions. You will be responsible for managing technical client queries, integrating AI frameworks, and deploying models within enterprise environments.
This role plays a key part in advancing the firm's AI strategy—enhancing operational efficiency, improving legal service delivery, and shaping new client experiences. A strong focus on ethical AI use, data security, privacy compliance, and effective collaboration with non-technical stakeholders is essential.
Responsibilities
- Understanding foundational principles and deployment of AI and GenAI models to enhance legal processes and services.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to integrate third-party AI solutions
- Establish and oversee service level agreements (SLAs) for contracted services to exceed service quality and overall expectations.
- Manage and resolve technical client queries related to AI including:
- Privacy-preserving AI practices
- Deployment and use of AI models.
- Identifying and mitigating risks associated with client data.
- Ensure the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies, including:
- Auditing models for fairness and bias.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, Australian Privacy Act).
- Promoting transparency in AI decision-making processes.
- Educate the firm and its clients on the latest advancements with AI by:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and GenAI.
- Conduct research and development to improve existing AI solutions.
- Foster innovation by introducing distinctive AI capabilities to the firm to enhance competitive edge.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to ensure the firm's technological capabilities advance continuously.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including non-technical stakeholders, to integrate AI models into enterprise systems.
- Strong project management skills to handle multiple AI projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Certifications in AI or machine learning (e.g., Google AI/ML certification, AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialist, Microsoft AI Engineer). Strong business acumen and domain-specific knowledge.
- Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and practices, and how they are deployed.
- Knowledgeable in how to apply technology capabilities to achieve regulatory or statutory compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in developing, deploying and integrating AI and GenAI models.
- Proficiency in AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, OpenAI APIs, or similar.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software development, AI engineering, and/or cloud-based operations
- Awareness of AI security and privacy best practices, particularly in sensitive and regulated industries.
- Experience in advising on the use of AI technologies within a professional services environment, preferably a law firm.
- Strong background in managing technical client queries and providing solutions.
- Experience in collaborating with external vendors and technology partners to integrate third-party AI solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with non-technical stakeholders (e.g., lawyers, clients).
- Strong project management skills to manage multiple initiatives, ensuring they meet deadlines and business objectives.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.
- Knowledge of legal technology platforms (e.g., Aderant, iManage) is an advantage.
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources required for success may not be in direct control of this role.
- Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills.
