Your New Role:

As the Manager, Investment Governance Mandates you will manage the governance process and key supporting artifacts for implementation of internal investment strategies. This includes the development, implementation and management of internal investment mandates and investment strategy statements, ensuring alignment with the organisation's overall Investments Governance Framework and Investment Strategy Policy.

This role is critical to maintaining a structured approach for internal investment management governance. The role also involves collaborating with senior stakeholders across the organisation to ensure mandates are effectively executed, monitored and reviewed.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support investors with end-to-end management of internal investment strategy implementation, including obtaining necessary approvals, managing creation of the investment strategy statement and internal investment mandate and working closely with internal teams to set up the operational aspects of the strategy.
  • Manage the process for creating, reviewing, and managing internal investment mandates and investment strategy statements in accordance with the Investment Strategy Policy.
  • Act as the primary liaison for internal teams and stakeholders on mandate governance, collaborating with fund operations, compliance, legal, and risk teams to meet regulatory standards.
  • Ensure that internal investment strategies are compliant with legislation and internal governance frameworks and processes, maintaining mandates in line with the annual review cycle and strategy updates.
  • Prepare internal reporting for strategy owners, the CIO and the Investment Committee.
  • Ensure a sound operating environment for internal mandates through execution of controls and documentation of policies and processes which support internal mandates.
  • Promote governance principles in the management of internal investment strategies.
  • Work closely with portfolio managers, compliance, legal, risk, and operations teams to integrate governance and strategy seamlessly.
  • Implement and embed automated technology solution to support internal investment strategies
  • Provide regular training to staff on the Investment Strategy Framework and mandate lifecycle processes.

What You'll Need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Finance, Business Management or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in investment governance, portfolio management, or related fields, with a focus on investment mandates and internally managed funds.
  • Experience in regulated environments with a solid understanding of investment governance frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of investment products, asset classes, portfolio construction, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong grasp of investment principles and operating practices.
  • Commercially astute critical thinker with strong analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to evaluate performance metrics and drive improvements.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and collaborating across teams.
  • Clear communication skills, able to explain complex governance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, meeting deadlines effectively.
