About the Role:
Dairy Australia have an opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team based at Southbank. Working as part of a team of 5, we offer a dynamic team environment to further consolidate and build on your financial accounting experience. Supporting the Senior Finance Business Partner and working closely with our regionally based teams, you will produce accurate and timely accounts and ensure that the reporting and analysis of financial information supports their needs.
The role will focus on the following ;
- Responsible for management of Dairy Australia’s monthly accounts for our Regional Development Programs; including but not limited to P&L analysis, preparation of accruals and prepayments and completion of balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of monthly Board reports; reviewing actual vs budget results, analysis/preparation of supplementary reports, and detailed overhead/project cost reviews
- Assist with preparation of annual financial statements
- Support the Senior Finance Business Partner to conduct relevant annual budget and periodic forecasting activities
- Support with ad-hoc budgeting and forecasting tasks as required
- Support with any work relating to implementing internal or external audit requirements
- Review company tax activities, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements

Our ideal candidate
There is plenty of variety in this role to utilise your technical accounting knowledge but equally you will have a role in building out an understanding of why and how the finance team supports the business to achieve their strategic goals, so your strong communication and business partnering skills will be valued.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:
- Currently working towards Professional accounting qualification (CPA or CA) or looking to commence studies shortly
- 2-3 years+ accounting experience in complex environments
- Sound technical knowledge of commercial accounting principles and Australian Accounting Standards
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel skills a particular advantage
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central / other similar ERPs an advantage
- High level of attention to detail, but also able to step back and see the bigger picture
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with our teams based regionally.
