We're on the hunt for a Port Captain to oversee, coordinate, and ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient discharge of break bulk cargo across Australian ports. You'll serve as the primary contact between ship and shore, liaising with stevedores and leading operations to minimize delays and protect cargo integrity

What You'll Be Doing

Vessel Discharge Operations

  • Conduct pre- and post-discharge meetings to ensure flawless execution
  • Verify cargo manifests and check for compliance with lifting and stowage regulations
  • Oversee and manage the cutting gang for break bulk vessel maintenance

Lifting & MO32 Compliance

  • Coordinate lifting plans and provide expert guidance on MO32 and AMSA requirements
  • Deliver remote advice on cranes and loose gear when in-transit
  • Attend berths and work directly with stevedores to ensure operational safety

Surveys & Reporting

  • Lead arrival and post-discharge condition surveys with full documentation
  • Work under supervision of Warranty Surveyor for high-risk or sensitive cargo

Team & Crew Coordination

  • Deploy crews in Brisbane and Port Kembla, and mobilize additional support where needed
  • Supervise general labour for vessel cleaning and hold preparation
  • Maintain vessel integrity through organization of welding/removal tasks

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in port operations, vessel discharge, or marine cargo handling
  • Sound knowledge of lifting gear, stowage planning, and discharge sequencing
  • Strong understanding of MO32 compliance and AMSA safety standards
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Available to travel and work flexibly across a 24/7 operational environment
  • Fluency in Mandarin is essential (liaison with vessel crew and documentation)
