Position Information

Holroyd High School is known for its diverse student population of around 600 students, with around 86% of students from non-English speaking backgrounds. The school emphasizes inclusive education, Visible Learning, and Choice Theory to foster a supportive learning environment. It also houses an Intensive English Centre for newly arrived students and a support unit for students with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
The Intensive English Centre (IEC) at Holroyd High School supports newly arrived students from non-English speaking backgrounds by providing targeted English language instruction and essential orientation to Australian schooling. Through differentiated programs, trauma-informed practices, and a culturally inclusive environment, the IEC helps students build language proficiency, academic skills, and confidence for successful transition into mainstream education.


Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Years 7-12 Visual Arts, with experience and relevant skills to teach newly arrived English as an Additional Language or Dialect students Successful teaching experience, with a demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective, engaging and differentiated teaching and learning programs and assessment, for a diverse range of student learning needs Demonstrated capacity to cater to the needs of students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those from a language background other than English Demonstrated experience collaborating with staff to implement English as an additional language or dialect strategies into daily classroom practice that drives student learning


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity
