As a key member of NAB’s Australian Macro-economics team, you will support the Head of Australian Economics and Chief Economist with report writing, thematic/research notes, data analysis and visualisation of the business survey and NAB’s internal transaction data and other big data captured through NAB’s lending activities.

  • Find the simple solutions when things are complex or don't make sense.

  • Support NAB’s Economics team focusing on monitoring, analysing and forecasting the Australian economy.

In the role of Senior Associate, you will join the Economics team that’s doubling down on keeping it simple and winning together.

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to:

  • Undertake report writing on economic data, our Business Surveys and internal transactions data.
  • Provide economic analysis and forecasting; that is, contributing to the assessment and forecasting of Australian economic and financial conditions.
  • Generate timely and insightful research/thematic reports on the Australian economy.
  • Conduct Economic presentations to both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Business & Private Banking, Corporate & Institutional Banking and Personal Bank.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis where required for both internal and external stakeholders.

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers. You’ll need:

  • Demonstrated experience as a macro economist with knowledge of the Australian economy and the global backdrop.
  • Generate insights, forecasts and ideas using your strong analytical research capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as experience managing a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a highly complex, fast paced and numerate environment.
  • Knowledge of key statistical/econometric tools including eViews and R.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Economics/Commerce(or related) preferred.
