Overview

This position is the Country Manager of Transfusion Medicine (TM) in Australia and New Zealand. The position has four primary functions

  • Accountable for the delivery of the annual plan P&L, including sales, margin, headcount, service equipment, technical support and management of other budgetary as approved by Division and Corporate Management.
  • Define and implement short-term and long-term business strategies for the ANZ region.
  • Fully responsible for functions of Sales, Marketing, Technical Support, Supply Chain (demand forecast and demand planning). Supporting other functions of Commercial Excellence, Pricing, Finance, Medical Affair, HR
  • Develop and enhance organizational capabilities. Manage TM ANZ Team and develop talents.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, direct and control overall activities.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement the company's short and long-term objectives and strategies, adapting them to local market conditions and business opportunities.
  • Manage the company's resources to ensure the achievement of business objectives.
  • Manage P&L and ensure financial and profit objectives are met.
  • Set direction by developing and implementing regional/country mission, strategies, and business objectives.
  • Provide financial analysis budgets to include forecasts and monthly reports to APAC commercial manager.
  • Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge and competitor awareness across total solution technologies and pricing trends to ensure informed recommendations to the APAC Managing Director, Finance and Pricing Managers.
  • Contribute to the development of the sales plans and budgets by providing forecasts for IBP updates and weekly reporting of ANZ Sales LBE that meet accuracy expectations to deliver against the plan.
  • In conjunction with the Total Solution Manager, coordinate and complete tender responses and submissions as the responsible ANZ business owner.
  • Build and strengthen positive relationships with key customers, internal global & regional SME’s, Transfusion opinion leaders and influential external bodies to drive a positive image of Abbott Transfusion Medicine in the region.
  • Develop critical “trusted advisor” relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to Senior Executives across Operations, Finance, Transformation, Scientific & Technical, Supplier Relationship, Clinical, R&D, Quality, Sustainability, Marketing, Donor Experience and National procurement to protect current partnerships that lead to collaboration that leads to successful business growth.
  • Work closely with a cross functional ‘selling and support team’ to develop and execute short- and long-term strategic plans to expand opportunities for growth while protecting critical existing business.
  • Support the launch of new technology and develop strategic sales plans to target and successfully introduce new solutions to drive business expansion opportunities to gain market share.
  • Create long-range plans with key objectives that will optimize business development by maximizing organizational and talent capabilities to execute on those plans.
  • Participate in the budgeting and financial planning process by translating strategy into operational goals.
  • Provide feedback to the APAC Managing Director to optimise the organisational structure and allocation of people resources and responsibilities to achieve business commitments.
  • Utilise technical/professional knowledge and skills to establish, interpret and execute company policies in a major segment of the company.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. Compliance, Quality management system etc.
  • Work with TM support functions in Asia Pacific to take full advantage of opportunities in the market, including the Total Solution Team (TST), Marketing, Logistics, Finance, Commercial Excellence etc.
  • Be an active member of the Business Advisory Council and develop relationships with commercial leaders of other Abbott businesses.
  • Make and execute operational decisions with a strategic perspective.
  • Manage the responsible operational budget effectively.
  • You may be required to work outside of your ordinary hours of work to participate in essential training, team meetings, customer events or conferences. These events may take place on an evening and/or weekend.

Essential

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree - 15+ years of relevant experience in a commercial business.
  • Experience working in a multinational business, ideally within the Diagnostics industry.
  • Demonstrated commercial experience in people management, marketing, sales, strategic planning, supply chain
  • Experience in managing global SME’s to contribute towards complex tender responses to meet demanding deadlines.

Desirable

  • MBA degree – highly regarded.
