Job Summary

As a Data Assistant reporting to the Data Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the development and improvement of Datarock’s computer vision models and applications.

Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously annotate and label imagery to train machine learning models. In addition, you’ll support the wider Customer Success & Operations Team in all aspects of delivering high-quality geotechnical and geological datasets to our customers, from managing our Technical Evaluations to assisting with data collation and correction, and product processing.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of artificial intelligence and how it contributes to the mining and civil construction industries.

Responsibilities

  • Data Annotation: Accurately annotate images to create high-quality training datasets. This includes tasks such as object detection, segmentation, and classification.
  • Data Validation: Undertaking final validation of labelled datasets to maintain high quality and adjusting project-specific guides/instructions.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and consistency of annotated data by adhering to established guidelines and standards. Identify and rectify any errors or inconsistencies in the annotations.
  • Data Preparation: Assist in preparing and correcting imagery and drill hole metadata to be uploaded to the Datarock Platform.
  • Technical Evaluations: manage the organising and processing of Datarock general models and prepare proforma presentations for prospective clients.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with the computer vision team to provide feedback on annotation processes and suggest improvements to enhance model performance.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication, both via online meetings and in-person, with team members, data scientists, and project managers to understand project requirements and deliver annotated data according to deadlines.
  • Documentation: Assist in maintaining annotation procedures and guidelines for reference by the wider annotation team, ensuring that annotation tasks are repeatable and scalable.
  • Privacy and Security: Handle sensitive data responsibly, follow data privacy and security protocols, and maintain confidentiality as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer usage and basic image editing tools.
  • Experience using computer vision annotation tools.
  • Familiarity with computer vision concepts and terminology is a plus.
  • Exposure to the mining industry is a plus.
  • The capacity to manage diverse responsibilities within project delivery.
