Redpath Australia currently has an opportunity for a Safety & Training Coordinator to join our Penny Gold Project near Mt. Magnet.

The Redpath Group is a leading mining contractor with almost 10,000 employees on projects across the globe. We specialise in shaft sinking, mine development, contract mining, raiseboring, underground construction, engineering & technical services, and specialty services in the mining and construction sectors.

With the recent acquisition of RUC Mining, we now operate the largest fleet of Raisedrill & Raisebore machines in Australia. Integrating RUC Mining's expertise with Redpath’s established reputation allows us to offer an expanded range of services and enhanced capabilities to our clients. As our business continues to grow, we are seeking talented candidates to be involved in the integration and streamlining of our operations to continue Redpath's development and ability to continue to deliver exceptional value to our clients and partners.


Your duties will be varied and involve:

  • Establish training requirements each week with the relevant supervisors and ensure that the mine manager/foreman approves training requests.

  • Ensure that task observations are being conducted by all supervisors as per the safety plan requirements.

  • Assist in the facilitation of emergency drills.

  • Liase regularly with other mines in the area regarding mine rescue agreements.

  • Conduct task observations concentrating on inexperienced or recently ticketed operators.

  • Keep mine rescue call out lists up to date each week so that shift supervisors have a copy in their office.

  • Check that the workplace inspection programme is functioning and that corrective actions arising from the inspections are closed out.

  • Conduct both theory and practical assessments for the workforce as per matrix requirements. Ensure that the maintenance department conduct machine systems training before completing practical assessments on machinery.

  • Inform the workforce of any accidents or incidents from the previous seven days, and in the morning pre-shift meetings

  • Facilitate the weekly safety meeting.

  • Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments as required to ensure all works are conducted in a safe manner to eliminate the risk of injury to personnel and damage to equipment

  • Identify the safest, most effective and efficient methods of work.

  • Report any environmental incidents as soon as possible and assist as directed in all clean-up and containment activities.


Roster on Offer: 8 days on, 6 days off.

FIFO: Perth Airport

About You:

  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

  • Current first aid & CPR qualification;

  • Current working at heights qualification;

  • Qualified or be able to become a qualified Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator;

  • Current Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) qualifications;

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a safety professional role within the mining, construction or heavy industry.

  • Relevant knowledge of contemporary underground mining practices to maximise safety and productivity

  • The fitting, adjustment and correct use of relevant personal protective equipment (based on site requirements)

  • In-depth working knowledge of key safety and operational procedures

  • High attention to detail;

  • Outstanding integrity;

  • Strive for continuous improvement and innovation;
