Meet: GovConnex
Founded: Australian-founded
Location: Sydney
Product: GovTech SaaS Platform
Funding: Established, profitable & investing in growth
The Story
GovConnex is an Australian-founded tech business that builds software to connect people and organisations to Government. They enable customers, from corporate/enterprise and trade unions to NFPs and industry associations, to better engage with government by bridging the right information when it's needed.
Having scaled successfully across Australia, GovConnex is now driving international growth, with a strategic focus on the UK market. What makes this opportunity genuinely exciting is the timing: while many companies are pulling back on marketing investment, GovConnex is doubling down on brand building and growth.
The culture here is honest and collaborative. There's an openness about not having all the answers, a willingness to be challenged, and a genuine belief that the best idea wins, regardless of where it comes from. You won't find people staying in their lanes or protecting territory. Instead, you'll join a team that values learning, vulnerability, and collective success.
This is an environment where marketing is understood to be critical, where you'll be both wanted and needed, trusted and challenged in equal measure.
The Role
As Senior Marketing Manager, you'll lead marketing efforts to drive growth in key markets, with your primary strategic focus on establishing GovConnex in the UK B2B market, while supporting and optimising their strong Australian presence.
Here's what makes this role particularly compelling: GovConnex is an established, reputable brand in Australia but completely unknown in the UK. You'll have the rare opportunity to build brand strategy from the ground up in a new market, focusing on brand awareness, sales enablement, and customer acquisition.
You'll tackle questions like: What can we build in-house versus partner with or outsource? How do we maximise our team's skillset while leveraging external expertise? What does success look like, and what metrics truly matter?
This role offers a clear focus with breadth and scope. You'll align strategy to high-level business objectives, drive execution across all relevant channels, and partner effectively with Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams. This role will have genuine influence within the business and the autonomy to shape how GovConnex approaches international expansion.
What You Bring To The Role
We're looking for someone ready to step up—ideally positioned for a Head of Marketing role in the short-medium term. You bring:
UK Market Experience: Demonstrated accountability in scaling and driving growth within the UK B2B market. You understand the nuances, challenges, and opportunities of expanding into this territory.
B2B SaaS Expertise: Strong background in B2B SaaS marketing with demonstrable experience around brand strategy and building brand awareness from the ground up.
Strategic Leadership: You're comfortable managing up, taking accountability for budget and outcomes, and aligning marketing strategy to broader business objectives. You can validate priorities, manage expectations on timelines and ROI, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
Hands-On Execution: While you can build and lead high-performing teams, you're equally comfortable jumping into the action when needed. You balance strategic thinking with execution.
Product Marketing Experience: Beneficial but not essential—experience in Product Marketing would be valuable as you shape go-to-market strategies.
