The role

We are seeking a strategically minded and action orientated State Manager Health and Safety to lead the development and implementation of strategic WHS projects aligned with Adbri’s Health and Safety Strategy. This leadership role manages a team of safety professionals and supports the delivery of key safety initiatives across business operations.

This newly defined role reports directly to the Executive General Manager of Health & Safety. You’ll work side by side with other operations and group functional leaders & teams to support positive health & safety cultural and business transformation.


This is not a siloed corporate role. You’ll be working across every layer of the business—partnering with site teams, project leads, and senior management to drive Health and safety improvements in a Caring and collaborative culture.


Responsibilities

  • Partner with operations to deliver health and safety services and achieve WHS goals.
  • Lead critical risk verification audits and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Develop and monitor WHS management plans; provide training and support.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through the “Work Safe, Home Safe” approach.
  • Provide safety leadership and coach teams on incident management and response.
  • Lead investigations and reporting of incidents, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Conduct internal safety audits and support external audit participation.
  • Oversee HSE training programs and review their effectiveness.
  • Translating field-level insights into practical health & safety risk improvements
  • Coaching and developing your health & safety professionals


What you will need to succeed

  • Recognized occupational health and safety degree / course.
  • Health and Safety Auditor training course.
  • Qualifications in incident investigation e.g. ICAM
  • 5 years in a similar industry of H&S experience
  • 5 years managing a team
