Role Overview:

As a Junior Storage Engineer, you will assist in the setup, administration, and maintenance of storage infrastructure. You will contribute to the implementation and ongoing management of storage systems, ensuring their optimal performance and availability.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Setup and Preparation:


  • Assist in gathering and analyzing information related to the implementation and operation of existing storage platforms.
  • Review documentation and participate in workshops to understand current storage systems and prepare for transition to storage operations.
  • Help develop and maintain storage operations documentation, including System Understanding Documents (SUDs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support service go-live readiness in alignment with established service plans and schedules.


  • Ongoing Storage Operations and Administration:


  • Monitor storage systems to ensure health, performance, and availability.
  • Perform regular health checks, storage capacity management, patching, and routine maintenance.
  • Assist in resolving incidents in both production and non-production environments to minimize downtime and performance impacts.
  • Work through backlogs of storage-related problem tickets and fulfill storage service requests.
  • Support storage provisioning and resource allocation tasks.


  • Documentation and Process Improvement:


  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for storage infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
  • Support efforts to align storage operations with DevOps and Agile methodologies.
  • Assist in the automation of storage management and operational tasks.


  • Collaboration and Compliance:


  • Work closely with other storage engineers and broader infrastructure teams, including compute, network, data center, and cloud teams.
  • Implement and adhere to security best practices, ensuring compliance with organizational and industry standards.


  • Continuous Improvement:


  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in storage infrastructure.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the storage operations team.


  • Qualifications & Experience:


  • 2 years of experience in IT infrastructure with exposure to storage systems, SAN, NAS, or backup solutions.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Basic understanding of HPE, Cisco, Brocade SAN fabrics, Hitachi, HP storage, Nutanix, NetBackup, and HP tape libraries is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with storage provisioning, capacity management, and monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to public cloud storage platforms and hybrid storage environments.
  • Basic scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python are a plus.


  • Soft Skills:


  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to adapt and learn in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


  • Certifications (Preferred):


  • Basic knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) and ITIL frameworks.
  • ITIL v4 certification (or ability to obtain within 8 weeks of joining).


  • Additional Requirements:

    Security Clearance Requirement: Given the secure nature of this role, we are seeking candidates who are Australian Citizens with an active security clearance.

    This requirement ensures that all team members are cleared to handle sensitive information and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of security in our operations.

    On-call and Shift Expectations: Our positions are primarily focused on managed services, meaning you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our clients' IT systems (Applications and Infrastructure). Flexibility and adaptability are key, as you may be required to work in shifts to provide continuous support. Additionally, you may need to be on call to address incidents promptly and perform after-hours deployment activities as needed. Your ability to effectively manage these responsibilities will be crucial to ensuring the seamless operation of our services and client satisfaction
