The program

The Young Parents Program (YPP) provides safe, nurturing residential accommodation and outreach support for parents aged 13 to 25 with complex needs. Using a child-centred, therapeutically informed approach, YPP helps young parents build independence and confidence. Operated by the Australian Red Cross from its Randwick office, the program offers therapeutic case management, parenting classes, education, life skills training, and child development services.

The opportunity

As a Community Gardener Volunteer, You Will

  • Help maintain a veggie patch and green space by watering, weeding, and general upkeep
  • Support the creation of a peaceful and inviting outdoor area for young parents and children
  • Assist with tidying and small improvements to keep the garden welcoming
  • Be part of a community dedicated to creating a supportive environment

Your work will help create a beautiful and functional space for young parents and children to enjoy. By volunteering, you will contribute to their wellbeing, encourage social connection, and promote a welcoming community atmosphere.

Application Requirements

  • For this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check, which will be organised through Red Cross.
  • You will need to provide a recent copy of your CV and provide details for two professional references.
  • The role will also require you to hold or apply for a Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check depending on your State/Territory. Red Cross can assist you to apply for this check.
