The Young Parents Program (YPP) provides safe, nurturing residential accommodation and outreach support for parents aged 13 to 25 with complex needs. Using a child-centred, therapeutically informed approach, YPP helps young parents build independence and confidence. Operated by the Australian Red Cross from its Randwick office, the program offers therapeutic case management, parenting classes, education, life skills training, and child development services.
The opportunity
Role
For the Graphic Designer role, you will support the Young Parents Program by developing visually engaging materials that enhance communication and align with Red Cross branding. The role involves:
- Designing presentations, reports, flyers, internal documents and other program resources
- Applying strong layout, typography, and branding principles to all materials
- Working both independently and collaboratively to meet design needs and deadlines
- Using Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) with confidence
- Contributing to a purpose-driven team focused on supporting young parents with complex needs
Red Cross will provide training, ongoing support, and access to a welcoming team environment within the world’s largest humanitarian network.
The impact
As a volunteer Graphic Designer for YPP, your work will contribute to the program’s visibility and reach. Through high-quality design, you will help ensure that program communications are clear, professional, and engaging—supporting efforts to advocate for young parents and engage with stakeholders. Your contributions will help tell the story of the program, enhance its communication tools, and ultimately strengthen its impact on the lives of vulnerable young families.
Application Requirements
- For this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check, which will be organised through Red Cross.
- You will need to provide a recent copy of your CV and provide details for two professional references.
- The role will also require you to hold or apply for a Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check depending on your State/Territory. Red Cross can assist you to apply for this check.
