Haven Home Safe are looking for a talented leader to join our finance team. Haven Home Safe is a homelessness services agency that provides a range of housing solutions and wrap-around support to help people find and keep a place they can call home. The Role

In this leadership role you will be responsible for the overall functions of monthly and annual processing and reporting, annual audit preparation and assisting with budget preparation. You will provide guidance and support to your team to ensure that there is clarity around roles and responsibilities within the team and create a positive team culture. You will proactively communicate with management to ensure they are well informed. This is a senior role which requires you to take ownership of the finance function and support the Head of Finance to meet strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for end-to-end month end processing and reporting including the preparation for financial reports for HHS executive and Board (including commentary and analysis).
  • Ensure that all financial reporting requirements, both internal and external, are completed in a timely and accurate manner and are compliant with accounting standards.
  • Assist with the HHS budget process to ensure the accurate preparation of budgets and related reports are completed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the preparation of budget documents for Executive and Board.
  • Ensure external stakeholders such as auditors and Government departments’ requirements are met.
  • Ensure communication with external partners is accurate and timely regarding any matters arising around provision of services.
  • Lead and support the finance operations team, including ensuring performance against Finance’s Operational Business Plan and KPIs, engaging in staff development and performance appraisals.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies that foster a strong system of internal accounting controls that minimize the risk of financial misstatement and fraud as well as complying with quality assurance standards
  • Maintain current knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and make recommendations regarding their application.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Formal qualification in accounting or similar and membership of either the Institute of Chartered Accountants or the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants.
  • Significant experience with finance processes including monthly and annual reporting requirements, annual budget preparation and statutory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience developing positive relationships with internal stakeholders through the development of a business partnering model.
  • Highly Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including data extraction and analysis.
  • Critical thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to recognise opportunities and risks with a keen eye for detail.
  • An analytical mind and strong financial acumen to conduct in-depth analysis and provide sound advice to management.
  • Current knowledge of Accounting Standards
  • Highly skilled in motivating others and building a culture of innovation, flexibility, and service excellence.
  • Experience with accounting issues relevant to the not-for-profit sector (preferred)
