Squiz Matrix and Funnelback Specialist - 6-month contract
The Tech Expert will be responsible for guiding the technical execution of migration projects for Squiz Matrix and Funnelback products for two migration teams. This individual will ensure that upgrades are performed as per the latest standards and performance and optimisation goals are met while facilitating best practices in Squiz in migrating to the new cloud environment.

Squiz Matrix and Funnelback Specialist - 6-month contract
The Tech Expert will be responsible for guiding the technical execution of migration projects for Squiz Matrix and Funnelback products for two migration teams. This individual will ensure that upgrades are performed as per the latest standards and performance and optimisation goals are met while facilitating best practices in Squiz in migrating to the new cloud environment.
What You Will Do
- Provide deep expertise in Squiz Matrix and Funnelback, guiding engineers in resolving issues and understanding the Squiz toolset (e.g. available plugins) in migration processes and performance optimisations.
- Serve as the primary internal point of contact for addressing technical questions related to Squiz Matrix and Funnelback, ensuring that team members have the support needed to understand solutions and resolve challenges related to these Squiz products.
- Foster strong relationships with Squiz’s Technical Support Engineers, Slalom engagement leads, Slalom project managers, and other stakeholders to align on project delivery and resource allocation.
- Guide the development and maintenance of documentation to Squiz standards, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards using tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Lead efforts to identify and implement performance improvements, especially in areas like slowness and query optimisation for the Matrix in the new cloud environment.
- Guide the Funnelback Migration Engineers in executing scripts, remediating issues, and supporting testing and go-live processes.
- Facilitate training sessions and knowledge sharing to ensure team proficiency in Squiz systems and new technologies.
- 3 Extensive experience with Squiz Matrix and Funnelback, including deep technical knowledge of their systems and capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams through complex system migrations and optimisation projects.
- Strong understanding of HTTP, APIs, SSL, database queries, CDN, and caching technologies for Squiz Matrix.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Groovy, and XSLT, with the ability to review and optimise code in Squiz Funnelback.
- Familiarity with JSON, key/value pairs, and configuration management as used in Squiz Funnelback.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to address technical challenges effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- Experience with cloud migration, particularly AWS, and related tools.
- Knowledge of VPN, LDAP integration, TSL/SSL configuration, and Cloudflare is beneficial.
- Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly and effectively.
