One of Melbourne’s most iconic CBD arcades is fast transforming into a landmark retail and holiday destination. The redevelopment of "Melbourne Walk" Arcade will soon see IHG’s first Australian dual-branded hotel project. Nestled in the heart of Melbourne's vibrant CBD, this project combines the boutique charm of Hotel Indigo with the modern comfort of Holiday Inn, offering a unique blend of hospitality experiences across 452 rooms.

Open the door into Hotel Indigo and guests can expect local character, modern design and warm, professional service with a vibrant and individual flavour, bringing the edgy laneway neighbourhood of Little Collins Street to life. Making the most of the retail haven, Holiday Inn will offer a modern, fresh and friendly stay for a wide variety of guests coming to enjoy the convenience and value they know and love from Holiday Inn, and all that Bourke Street Mall has to offer.

We are on the lookout for a driven, friendly and approachable Conference & Event Sales Executive that will work closely with our hotel commercial team in a reactive sales capacity for catering sales and event output.

A little taste of your day-to-day

  • Create proposals, negotiate sales prices and secure conference and event business within booking guidelines.
  • Follow up on requests received from clients to ensure the client receives a response within 24 hours
  • Follow up on outstanding C&E proposals to ensure strong conversion
  • Actively pursue opportunities to grow client base and convert conference and events business and create an ongoing pipeline of business
  • At pre-event planning stage consult with meeting planners to optimise all elements of the meeting / event / group including space, meeting/break flow, menu and design, room needs to improve meeting efficiency
  • Conduct pre-event and post-event meetings with clients and catering colleagues to identify improvements to the guest experience
  • Ensure the whole client experience is successful and memorable and act as the brand ambassador and key contact throughout their journey
  • Build long term relationships with planners and hosts to increase loyalty to the hotel and to the brand
  • Prepare BEO’s and Group Sheets participate in the weekly BEO meeting to ensure the hotel team have necessary information to deliver a successful event

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in Hotel Administration or Sales/Management
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated hotel sales experience with a proven track record of success driving repeat business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of hotel systems and revenue management principles
  • Undertaken formal sales training program (internal or external)
  • Must have a right to work in Australia.
