Role Purpose
We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer for a 12-month contract to support the evolution of client's enterprise data platform. This role is pivotal in implementing data engineering best practices, building scalable data products, and working cross-functionally to deliver customer-focused outcomes. You’ll help shape and enhance the data ecosystem in collaboration with key stakeholders, ensuring robust, secure, and well-documented solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build new data solutions in collaboration with internal stakeholders to meet business needs.
- Maintain and enhance data workflows and pipelines to support a growing suite of data use cases.
- Ensure high availability and performance of the data platform during business hours.
- Lead continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies and tools in data engineering.
- Champion secure data practices by ensuring compliance with security policies and managing risk.
- Provide hands-on and advisory support to the internal data engineering team.
- Support the full lifecycle of internal and external data projects, from design through implementation.
- Ensure documentation, change management processes, and configuration standards are consistently met.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Highly proficient in data orchestration, modelling, and visualisation, with expertise in tools such as Snowflake, dbt, and SAP (e.g., BW, BO, DS, IS, and SAC or Microsoft Azure (including ADF and Power Platform)
- Strong understanding of SQL, Python, R, and modern data science pipelines.
- Knowledgeable in ITSM processes (Incident, Request, Change, Problem Management).
- Familiar with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) and CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments.
- Excellent verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills – able to advise, influence, and lead discussions with both technical and non-technical teams.
Desirable Attributes
- Able to operate at SFIA Levels 4–6 in key data competencies such as analytics, data modelling, and consultancy.
- Experience in documenting technical designs and supporting materials to a high standard.
- A self-starter mindset, capable of working independently and within agile cross-functional teams.
