What To Expect
Tesla Energy is revolutionizing the global energy landscape with its Megapack product, enabling scalable, sustainable energy storage solutions that redefine how electrical grids operate. As part of our mission to accelerate the transition to clean energy, we are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our high-performing Operational Technology (OT) team in the APAC region.
In this role, you will specialize in network engineering within industrial environments, while also supporting server engineering tasks. You will be responsible for implementing, managing, and automating network and server systems, ensuring compliance with established system architectures, regulations, and security policies. Following industry standards and best practices, you will contribute to creating and maintaining comprehensive support documentation.
If you thrive on solving complex challenges, have a bias for action, and are eager to grow within a dynamic, high-performing team that drives impactful results, we encourage you to apply.
What You'll Do
Collaborate closely with Senior and Staff Network and Server Engineers on network designs and strategic initiatives. Maintain and optimize existing network solutions at industrial energy sites. Deploy and configure networks for new industrial energy sites. Serve as a Tier 2-3 escalation point for network-related issues. Gather requirements, analyze needs, and propose solutions to address networking challenges. Provision, implement, test, validate, and maintain networking services in alignment with existing designs. Conduct proof-of-concept (POC) evaluations for new products and technologies. Monitor, analyze, and report performance metrics for network services. Document processes and technical details in knowledge bases and operational runbooks. Develop automation solutions to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Ensure compliance with Australian critical infrastructure security requirements. Participate in an on-call rotation, with occasional weekend, after-hours, and holiday work as needed. Perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs (25 kg), as required. Travel up to 15% as necessary to support project needs.
What You'll Bring
While we do not expect candidates to possess all of the following skills, a strong combination of the below is highly desirable:
1+ year of experience in production industrial or manufacturing networking infrastructure, preferably in the energy industry. Operational experience with IP networking and L2/L3 network protocols (e.g., spanning-tree, OSPF, BGP, industrial ring protocols), TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, end-to-end QoS/CoS (focused on industrial real-time protocols), VLAN, VRRP, LACP, SD-WAN, EVPN with VXLAN, ACL, application flow, NAC, and infrastructure cabling. Operational experience with multi-vendor industrial switching technologies, including Cisco IE (IOS and IOS XE/IOx), Hirschmann, Siemens, Beckhoff, Moxa, N-Tron, Red Lion, and similar industrial switches and PLCs. Working experience with non-industrial switching platforms such as Juniper, Arista, or equivalent. Working experience with industrial protocols such as CIP Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, BACnet, EtherCAT, MODBUS, or similar. Experience with firewall services, including Cisco Zone-Based Firewall, Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX, Palo Alto Networks, or Fortinet, with proficiency in application inspection, IPsec VPN, URL filtering, and IDS/IPS. Proficiency with tools such as Protocol Analyzer, SNMP, Netflow, IPAM, RADIUS, Splunk, network taps, SPAN, ICS scanners (e.g., CyberVision, Claroty, Tenable), and load/stress testing. Experience developing scripts to automate infrastructure deployment and collect metrics using tools such as Ansible, Python, PowerShell, or Shell Scripting. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and other common tools. CCNP, CCNA, or industrial certifications (e.g., ISA/IEC). Experience with Linux, Microsoft Server, or VMware vSphere. Experience with SQL Server, Veeam, or Active Directory. Strong focus on creating and maintaining detailed documentation. Proven ability to deliver projects despite challenging obstacles. Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders. Light software development experience is preferred.
