Role description:Our Australian Business is seeking a new Business Leader to lead our national Advisory, Planning and Technology (APT) business unit. The APT business unit is a team with specialist skills which includes well established Transport Modelling, Transport Planning and Transport Technology (ITS) teams, as well as growing teams in Infrastructure Advisory, Development Advisory and Data Advisory. The role includes management of the P&L for this business which includes oversight and management of the people and projects. As a national business, the role includes some travel at maximum monthly basis.
Role accountabilities:Reporting to the National Civil Infrastructure Director in Australia, the Business Leader has ultimate accountability for profitability and operational success of the 40+ head strong business. Working as part of the National Leadership team, you’ll use your extensive knowledge within the Transport and Advisory space to engage with our clients to identify opportunities and win work, and manage a high performing team focused on best practice delivery.
Joining a global consultancy, you and your team will collaborate with colleagues both nationally and internationally to learn from each other, and accelerate our knowledge share to bring the best in class to our clients.
As a natural collaborator with established contacts and credibility in the Australian market, you’ll use your profile and commercial acumen to continue to grow our brand and help diversify our portfolio to offer an end to end service from early phase advisory services through to asset management. Your previous experience in managing large teams will allow you to nurture and grow our people and capabilities to ensure outstanding client care.
Qualifications & Experience:It is important that your values are aligned with Arcadis’ which are – People First, Collaboration, Client Success, Integrity and Sustainability and your experience from your leadership or executive roles includes the following:
- Demonstrated ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills
- Well established client management and business development skills in a consultancy environment with strong client relationships
- Experience in leading a business unit or a profit centre within a larger business unit within a consulting services environment
- Well-developed commercial skills, including familiarity with contractual conditions and procedures, and experience of taking commercial responsibility for key projects and businesses
- Experienced in leading large teams from varied backgrounds and cultures
- Relevant degree, ideally with Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation with a technical background in at least one of the core streams of Transport Modelling, Transport Planning, Transport Technology (ITS) Infrastructure Advisory, Development Advisory or Data Advisory,
- Postgraduate qualifications in business, finance or project management related areas an advantage.

Role description:
Due to continued growth, Arcadis is currently seeking an experienced and well-rounded in-house lawyer to work full-time as Legal Counsel joining our high-performing Legal, Compliance and Privacy (LCP) team. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel (SLC), you will provide support and drive the efficient and effective delivery of legal outcomes to the business. This is an opportunity to work with industry leaders alongside a great team. This role is open to candidates based in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.
Role accountabilities:
- Day to day responsibility for effective and efficient operation of “business as usual” contract reviews and negotiations.
- Adherence to / compliance with the LCP Team’s processes in effectively reviewing, negotiating and managing the business’ contracts.
- Providing legal advice and support during the project delivery phase and assisting any LCP team members with issues during the delivery of projects.
- Providing support to the SLC and other LCP team members on any contentious claims.
- Facilitating and participating in effective training and development of staff in relation to legal issues including contract law, contract conditions and contract administration (including Security of Payment legislation).
- Developing and maintaining a wide network of relationships across multiple disciplines and functions and seeking opportunities to be involved in the wider business as a trusted legal advisor.
- Collaborating with the law clerks and other LCP team members on projects and other reviews that require additional resourcing or assistance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 2+ years’ experience in contract review and negotiation of construction and/or professional services contracts.
- Demonstrated interest in construction, infrastructure, resources, design, consultancy or engineering an advantage.
- Degree in Law from an Australian university or legal qualification which is recognised in Australia.
- Current practicing certificate
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in negotiation.
- Experienced in working with people from varied backgrounds and cultures is desired.
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop new skills.
