Description


The Accounting Manager will report to the CFO, and will manage a team of globally focused staff accountants while taking on the lead role for the Australian entity of a global, US-based SaaS company. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone with strong technical accounting skills and experience managing a growing team.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team responsible for driving accurate and timely accounting processes across global operations.
  • Manage the global monthly accounting close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion across all entities.
  • Review and approve key journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses, while coordinating with regional teams to ensure consistency, completeness, and compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing and compliance with local regulations (in Australia, this includes, but is not limited to, superannuation, STP, and Fair Work compliance).
  • Manage and ensure timely payment of all local taxes for multiple entities, particularly the Australian entity, including GST, payroll tax, PAYG, and corporate income tax.
  • Help manage all aspects of the company’s financial audits across all entities.
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements to improve the efficiency and accuracy of finance and accounting operations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with People Ops, Finance, Legal, Office Admin, and external advisors as necessary.
  • Assist with data requests and collaborate with other finance team members globally to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions, local entity budgets, and global cash requirements.
  • Ensure audit readiness and work as a team to strengthen internal controls as we scale.
  • Ad-hoc projects and tasks as required.


Minimum Qualifications

  • At least five years of work experience, being actively involved in all aspects of the accounting cycle, and having experience supervising a small team.
  • Hands-on leader who can balance team leadership with active involvement in day-to-day tasks.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian payroll, tax compliance, and statutory reporting.
  • Strong data management and data analysis skills.
  • Systems-related experience, particularly with accounting & payroll software.
  • University degree in Business/Accounting.


Desired Skills & Experience

  • Seven or more years of work experience actively involved in all aspects of the Accounting cycle
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to operate independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced technology company
  • Strong acumen for financial-related software and related integrations, such as NetSuite, HCM/Payroll systems, and Excel
  • Previous experience supporting both US and international audits
  • Familiarity with international transfer pricing
  • Public accounting or audit background, as well as SaaS or technology industry experience, are major pluses
  • Vietnamese language proficiency is also a major plus.
  • CPA Australia or equivalent is strongly preferred


Additional Qualifications

  • Infrequent travel may be required.
  • Brisbane-based, hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
  • As this is a global role, occasional participation in meetings or activities outside of standard working hours may be required to accommodate cross-regional collaboration.
