About the role- Quantity Surveyor | Canberra Region
TSA Riley has a 130-year heritage dating back to 1890 when Henry Riley Esq first established a quantity surveying practice in London. In Asia Pacific we trace our roots back to the 1980s through the merging of several respected, small project management and advisory firms. Now, in the 21st century, we’re defining and pioneering a new way of helping our clients drive greater value and impact from their built assets. Plan. Procure. Deliver. Optimise. Decarbonise. Our business continues to experience significant growth and has recently established a Cost Management practice in Australia to support our international cost management offering that has been operating for over 130 years. We are seeking a talented Quantity Surveyor to join our Canberra team as it grows and expands in the local market. Our Canberra office was established in 2001, predominately focused on project management services and we currently have over 30 employees in Canberra and over 1,000 across Australia offering both project management and cost management services.
If you have a strong understanding of various industry sectors, particularly in Education, Retirement Living and Commercial (fitout, new build and refurbishment), this is your chance to make a meaningful impact.
In this role, you’ll be involved in all aspects of Quantity Surveying and Cost Consultancy, managing both pre and post-contract duties.

Duties include;
- Reviewing and understanding design consultants’ drawings.
- Estimating and cost planning.
- Inputting into value engineering.
- Inputting into Tender analysis and assisting in producing tender reports.
- Conduct cost checks, carry out progress claim and variation assessments.
- Dealing effectively and producing post contract cost reports.
- Contract administrative agreement of final accounts.
- Client facing at all stages of projects.
- Directly support Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Experience of using Microsoft Office suite as well as CostX or similar.
- Completed or working towards APC for MRICS or AIQS chartered status.
- Preferably Australian Citizen (in order to obtain security clearances)
- AGSVA Security clearance (or ability to obtain in the future)
- Possess strong communication skills and can consistently offer an excellent standard of customer care.
- Sound construction knowledge as expected
- Range of project and trade experience
- Clear understanding of Cost Planning stages and principals
- Ability to accurately quantify and cost construction elements.
- Min of 4 years' post graduate experience.
- Financial monitoring experience.
- Ability to work flexibly with strong organisational skills to manage workload.
- Innovative and adaptable to change with a professional and dedicated attitude.
- Willingness to develop, learn and progress within your career.
