About Askable

Hey, we’re Askable - the world’s most loved user research platform. Loved by whom you ask? Woolies, Qantas, Canva, BUPA, CommBank, NAB, Telstra, BBC, Mastercard and hundreds more. Not bad right?

Askable began in 2017 as an idea scribbled on a sticky note, born out of frustration with the clunky, outdated research processes we’d experienced firsthand. So, we set out to build a new way—one that makes quality research accessible to everyone, from Fortune 500s to startups hungry for insights.

By providing seamless access to high-quality participants and Certified Askable Researchers, we enable teams to scale research on demand, deliver insights faster, and, ultimately, build things that matter.

Now with offices in Brisbane, London, and Chicago, we’re growing the team to bring Askable’s research power to researchers everywhere, so they can make smarter, user-driven decisions.

Our culture

Our culture drives everything we do. We live it, breathe it, and work every day to make Askable a place where people can thrive.

We believe work should be fulfilling, exciting, and meaningful.

Here, you’re not just part of a team. You’re part of a community that cares about what they’re building and how they’re building it.

About The Role

As Researcher Experience Lead, you’ll shape what it means to be part of the Askable Certified Researcher network.

This isn’t a hands-on research or delivery role, but you will need to understand the rhythm, the nuance, and the real world pressures of delivering quality insights to stakeholders.

At Askable, our clients are researchers themselves. Your job is to ensure the freelance researchers we match up with clients live up to our professional standards and are not just capable, but confident, consistent, and client ready.

From onboarding to ongoing development, performance to community, you’ll design programs that elevate the researcher experience and, in turn, improve the outcomes we deliver to our clients. You’ll work globally, partner cross functionally, and help define our shared standard for high quality, human centred research.

If you love building systems that support people, care about the craft of research, and want to help set a new standard for research and insights delivery then this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

This is a new role with lots of opportunity. We’re not expecting everything to happen at once. Some initiatives are already in flight, and others will take shape with your help. You’ll guide, collaborate, and lead thoughtfully, but we do not require this role to carry the weight of the world solo.

Lead and shape our global researcher strategy

You’ll help define how we attract, certify, support, and retain top tier researchers, aligning regional teams around one consistent, scalable experience.

Connect Researcher Experience To Client Delivery

The ultimate measure of success is client outcomes. You’ll help ensure every certified researcher is confident, capable, and set up to meet the needs of modern research teams consistently and professionally.

Build the systems that enable researcher success

You’ll deliver structured onboarding, define clear development milestones, and maintain practical tools like playbooks and training sessions. Your systems will give researchers what they need to succeed and help the business trust in consistent, high quality delivery.

Enable researcher excellence

You’ll run structured onboarding, create practical playbooks, and deliver targeted sessions to build confidence and consistency in how work gets done. When things go off track, you’ll step in with care and clarity.

Support smart delivery decisions

You’ll collaborate with Delivery teams to improve visibility into researcher availability, preferences, and past performance so briefs are matched quickly and accurately.

Champion the researcher perspective

You’ll build relationships with the researchers in our network, keep a pulse on what they need, and create structured ways to gather and act on feedback that improves the overall experience.

Shape the tools that power our systems

You’ll provide insight into how product and ops teams can support the researcher experience through better profiling, performance data, and streamlined processes.

Support ARC and raise the bar

You’ll lay the groundwork for a forum of senior researchers for Askable that will look for peer feedback, guidance, and shared ownership of quality standards across the network.

Contribute to community and engagement efforts

You’ll partner with Marketing and regional teams to inform and codesign programs like researcher spotlights, Slack engagement, events, and referral initiatives.

Knowledge And Experience You’ll Bring

You don’t need to tick every box, but these are the skills and experiences that will help you thrive in this role.

Essentials

  • A solid understanding of how research works in the real world, including common methods and delivery models
  • Experience leading or contributing to cross functional programs, with both strategic oversight and hands-on coordination
  • Strong communication and coaching skills, especially when working with external contributors
  • Experience collaborating across teams, time zones, and shifting priorities
  • A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to professionalism, especially around delivery quality
  • Familiarity with research tooling (e.g. participant platforms, repositories, or unmoderated testing tools)
  • A curious mindset and the confidence to help shape something new

Nice to have (but not dealbreakers)

  • Experience working with or enabling freelance talent in research, consulting, creative, or platform based environments
  • Exposure to learning design, onboarding, or enablement for external contributors
  • Knowledge of community engagement or content-led ambassador programs
  • Experience in research operations, studio coordination, or researcher resourcing
  • Background in participant management or research operations

The mindset you’ll need

Strategic, but grounded

You can see the longterm vision and know how to build toward it in real, practical steps. You don’t need polish before progress. You’re comfortable starting lean, iterating fast, and learning as you go.

Systems thinker, human focus

You love building things that scale, but never forget the humans behind the system. Whether it’s onboarding, training, or feedback, you design for clarity, connection, and care.

Quality first, always

You know what good research looks like and won’t settle for “just fine.” You’re confident giving feedback, calling out gaps, and holding the line on standards even when it’s uncomfortable.

Influential without needing control

You won’t manage people directly but your work shapes how they show up. You know how to align stakeholders, get buy-in, and bring others with you without needing to run every program.

Comfortable in the grey

This isn’t a rinse and repeat role. You’re okay when things are evolving, and you ask smart questions to create structure where there isn’t any yet.
