The opportunity

The Senior Project Manager requires an extensive knowledge of project management principles, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams across a broad set of stakeholders, including but not limited to platform development team, Operations, Legal, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Advocacy and Production support.

Description of division and business unit

Platforms is one of two growth businesses for AMP, and as such, is supported by a substantial investment in projects. It exists in a very competitive market, and a robust regulatory environment, which requires regular reviews of strategic direction and operational emphasis. The target segment for Platforms is mass affluent through the advised channel, with some service provided directly to clients that become unadvised.

About the role:

  • The role will plan and manage end-to-end large sized projects of high complexity, with a high level of risk and with significant business criticality.
  • The role will maintain the overall integrity and coherence of the project, with strong management of inter-dependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising.
  • Strong team leadership and ability to instil a vision for the project, creating a motivating environment and building a team culture with focus on ownership, delivery and collaboration across business and IT
  • Contemporary project management skills, including strong planning with an ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines, manage dependencies, assumptions, risks and issues and instil stakeholder confidence
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in end-to-end programme/project delivery, leveraging matrixed and distributed teams of up to 40 resources
  • Ability to establish effective project governance and controls to deliver quality outcomes
  • Strong commercial focus and business judgement with the ability to drive project budget efficiencies
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, demonstrating ability to maintain effective relationships, ensure project is aligned to business objectives and negotiate trade-offs between business need and project do-ability
  • Delivering effective communications tailored for different audiences at all levels
  • Strong Vendor management
  • Ability to proactively anticipate and resolve problems/roadblocks and maintain delivery momentum
  • Experience in working in both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments is desirable

About you:

  • 10+ years' experience in end-to-end management of large complex projects (business and IT) within Financial Services and / or other industries
  • 10+ years' experience in large transition and transformation programs
  • Experience in leadership roles in large and/or complex scale transformation.
  • Experience managing senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience operating an Agile / lean way of working, and use of Jira and Confluence
  • Experience in managing project delivery schedules and benefits delivery for budgets of $10m+
  • Experience in resource planning and management.
  • Experience in financial services is highly desirable; ideally in Wealth / Platforms.
  • Experience reporting to executive committees
  • IT or Business degree or equivalent experience.
