UGLs Manufacturing and Maintenance business have an opportunity for an experienced Technical Coordinator – Help Desk to join our $2.3 billion New Intercity Fleet (NIF) project team based at the Rail Operations Centre (ROC) in Alexandria, Green Square. A relocation assistance package is on offer for any applicants that meet the requirements of the role and are interested in relocating to Sydney.
This project will oversee the replacement of trains carrying customers from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Blue Mountains and the South Coast. UGL will operate a new maintenance facility and provide maintenance and asset management services to the new fleet for 15 years.
About The Role
Reporting to the Planning & Logistics Manager, the primary purpose of the Technical Coordinator is to be the first point of contact for any issues with the NIF Trains in operational service, and to coordinate fault detection and rectification measures between the train driver and the NSCC Fleet Controller.
The positions will be based at the ROC near central station in Sydney NSW and will operate on a 24/7, twelve (12) hour rotational shift work basis, acting as the primary point of contact for all customers via the “UGL Helpdesk”. Furthermore, this role requires input into operational planning for receiving, recording and prioritising maintenance activities for the NIF Fleet.
You will work in close proximity with the Fleet Operations Controller within the Control Centre to provide prompt and effective responses to emergent NIF Fleet issues to minimise downtime.

About You
- Trade level certification or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Previous experience in rollingstock maintenance and/or commissioning
- Able to read technical drawings, schematics, field modifications (FMI) parts bulletins and bill of material lists.
- Able to resolve complex mechanical and electrical warranty, quality, maintenance and service problems.
- Ability to prioritise work requirements to meet customer deadlines and availability requirements.
- Experience using SAP is highly desired
