We're hiring: Operational Risk Manager

We’re looking for a passionate Operational Risk professional to join our Risk & Compliance team.

This is a unique opportunity to join our growing business in Australia, where you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and managing risk frameworks, systems and policies across our organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the global risk management system (Riskonnect) in Australia;
  • Maintain the risk management framework and support the development of risk management policies, procedures and controls;
  • Assist in the identification of process improvements or procedures to increase operational efficiency and manage risks;
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments, implementing risk mitigation strategies and identifying potential operational risks;
  • Drive improvement in risk capability, culture, and awareness in the promotion of risk management as a core capability – particularly in the area of operational risk;
  • Collaborate with business and operational areas to identify, assess and manage risks;
  • Responsibility for the governance and risk input on outsourcing/third party risk management, operational resilience, and other areas of heightened operational risk;
  • Assist in the support of any investigations or reviews;
  • Contribute to, and potentially manage, other risk and compliance requirements, as required.


About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong interest in advancing a career in risk management, coupled with a keen understanding of the market and the Financial Services industry. You will also have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in operational risk or audit within a financial services firm with exposure to an APRA regulated business, an advantage;
  • Strong system skills and experience in risk management systems. Interest in technology an advantage;
  • Knowledge and understanding of operational risk principles, regulatory requirements, and exposure to risk frameworks and control testing;
  • Collaborative nature and interest in coaching on risk management and implementing risk frameworks;
  • Curious ,mindset, strong ethics with ability to challenge and think independently;
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and self-motivation in a fast-paced environment;
  • A desire for process improvement and the ability to assess the materiality of issues whilst being pragmatic;
  • A degree in a relevant discipline;
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to influence.
