Kennedys is recruiting a proactive and enthusiastic Legal Secretary to join our friendly Brisbane practice on a permanent basis. Working closely with one of our most highly regarded Insurance Partners, Stephanie Cook, and wider team of experienced fee earners and paralegals, you will be responsible for providing first-class legal secretarial support on a day-to-day basis.

Kennedys is a global, UK-based firm, and has had a presence in Australia since 2006. The Brisbane office opened in July 2022 and has grown exponentially over the last 12 months thanks to our talented people and reputation in the global insurance market.

You will play a pivotal role in the Brisbane office and be part of our national team of legal secretaries and dedicated support staff who collectively keep Kennedys Australia running seamlessly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing hands-on litigation support by managing all related documentation and preparation of claims
  • Accurate file maintenance and organisation
  • Email/Inbox management, screening and electronic filing of emails
  • Drafting correspondence and legal documentation from dictation or written notes
  • Manage billing cycle from generation of invoices through to satisfactory payment of accounts
  • Filing documents in any registry (court, land, etc.), including preparing the documents for electronic filing
  • Working closely with the office manager to ensure smooth & efficient daily operation of the office including; welcoming guests, accepting deliveries and ordering supplies when required

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Mid-senior level experience in a legal secretary (or similar) position, ideally within a busy litigation practice, is essential
  • Client billing experience is preferred - Elite knowledge would be advantageous
  • Proficient in MS Office, including drafting correspondence and pleadings in Word and creating presentations in PowerPoint
  • A genuine team player who enjoys being part of a close-knit team and providing support at all levels
  • Well organised and methodical in your approach to work
  • Strong communication skills with a natural flair for building internal and external relationships
  • Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to work full time, on-site in our beautiful Brisbane offices
