Mackay Regional Council is seeking an experienced Labourer to join our line marking team within Civil Operations based from our Paget Depot. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage assets, and other civil infrastructure in the beautiful region of Mackay.


About this opportunity:

In this role, you will be an integral contributor to our civil projects, assisting with the upkeep and construction of roads and drainage assets. Working under the remote supervision of a supervisor or leading hand, you’ll engage in a broad array of duties—from general labour to operating plant and trucks—to ensure that our community infrastructure remains in excellent condition. Whether you’re laying down precise line markings, undertaking earthworks, or supporting concrete works and pipelaying, your expertise will be at the heart of our projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform labouring tasks that support road and drainage maintenance projects.
  • Operate small ride-on equipment and light mechanical plant safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with concrete work, pipelaying, bitumen application, and vegetation management.
  • Follow the remote guidance of a supervisor or leading hand while ensuring task completion with high standards.
  • Contribute proactively to solutions that enhance project quality and safety.


Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Current QLD General Construction Safety White Card
  • Current QLD LR or MR Truck Driver's Licence
  • Current Traffic Controllers Accreditation (TCT & TMI)
  • Competency in operating small ride-on equipment and light mechanical plant, supported by relevant certificates of competency for civil construction machinery.
  • Previous hands-on experience in the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage systems, and related civil infrastructure is highly valued. Experience with earthworks, concrete, pipelaying, and bitumen applications is a plus—but for the right candidate, training is available.
