SYPAQ is on the hunt for a Facility and HSE Manager (FHSE) to manage the evolving security and HSE requirements within our business. Effective security management of our people, data and facilities is a key pillar to our successful delivery of next-generation disruptive technologies, which is why this FHSE role is so important to us. About The Role
The Facilities & HSE Manager (FHSE) is responsible for the ongoing operational condition, maintenance, and security of SYPAQ Group facilities in Australia, as well as key responsibility for Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) reporting across the wider business.
This includes maintenance of, and continual compliance to, the physical site security and the security certifications as required under the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP)
The Facility & HSE Manager will utilise their experience in Security Management to maintain all security processes, accreditations, and certifications associated to classified zones within the SYPAQ facility at Bertie Street, Port Melbourne and our interstate offices.
As an experienced FHSE, you will ensure all SYPAQ employees and subcontractors possess the required clearances and have completed the training to meet the required physical security requirements at SYPAQ offices including management of Classified material.

Getting into more detail, this exciting role will be responsible for:
- Maintaining suitable facility conditions across all SYPAQ Group sites. This includes reporting requirements and condition management through co-ordination of maintenance activities
- Primary responsibility as leader of the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) to co-ordinate appropriate levels of Chief Warden (CW) and First Aid Officer (FAO) staffing allocations across all SYPAQ sites
- Ongoing management and maintenance of all security processes, accreditations, and certifications associated to classified zones within the SYPAQ facility at Bertie Street, Port Melbourne
- Responsibility for leading the HSE Reporting process across SYPAQ Group, including leading the HSE Committee.
- Ensuring that all SYPAQ employees and subcontractors possess the required clearances and have completed the training to meet the required physical security requirements at SYPAQ offices and allow, if required, the effective handling of Classified Materials.
- Managing security clearances of all SYPAQ personnel (including clearance changes).
- Undertaking travel briefings prior and post business travel for SYPAQ personnel.
- Responsibility for maintaining integrity of access control system for secure areas of SYPAQ offices.
- Preparing and dispatching SAFEHAND materials (Classified Documents).
- Maintaining and updating the Facilities Security Register for SYPAQ sites in accordance with the DSPF.
- Secondary duty responsibilities which can include First Aid Officer, Emergency Control Warden and Security Officer
- A qualified practitioner with higher degree qualifications and/or experience on Defence based projects.
- Completion of Defence Security Officer course within the last three (3) years.
- A minimum NV1 clearance and prepared to upgrade and maintain an NV2 clearance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability present complex solutions in fundamental ways.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- 3+ years’ experience in defence or commercial technology development projects.
- Currently holding NV1 or higher Defence Security Clearance.
- HSE qualification or formal training – highly desirable
