The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, comprising of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has successfully secured the contract to deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.


The project scope is concentrated on a 10.5km motorway, including more than 4kms of twin three lane tunnels, road and bridge construction and complex M&E installations. Open to traffic in 2031, the T2D alliance will offer the people of Adelaide an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project, career stability and the opportunity for career progression and development.

The role

We are looking for an Environmental Manager to join our team on T2D. You will see yourself as an established Environmental Manager looking to further their career in a key leadership role within a top tier contractor on major project.


The role be accountable for managing and enhancing the environmental performance and ensuring compliance for all project works.


  • Ensure we adopts robust due diligence and risk management processes and understands and meets its regulatory and legal environmental obligations.
  • Provide leadership, technical advice and input regarding tenders and existing projects.
  • Work closely and build strong working relationships with our internal Environmental and Sustainability Senior Leaders
  • Coordinate and provide day to day specialist environmental support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop, manage and lead the continual technical improvement of project environment management systems.
  • Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on environmental matters.
  • Manage relevant reporting/KPI deliverables relating to environmental and sustainability targets.
  • Prepare and review work packages, negotiate appropriate licences and approvals as required.
  • Leadership, management and coordination of investigation and response to environmental complaints, incidents, non-conformances relating to site.
  • Provide training to stakeholders on environment matters.
  • Monitor, measure and evaluate environment performance in order to support the continuous improvement of John Holland’s systems and practice.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, science or other associated disciplines
  • Specialist environmental and sustainability experience within the Civil Construction industry ideally within a Tier 1 Contractor
  • A minimum of 5 years Construction Environment Management experience / or significant Senior Environmental and Sustainability experience working across infrastructure projects and pre-contracts.
  • Ability to lead high level investigations involving multiple internal and external parties
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to build effective and strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
