The Role
As a Senior Claims Consultant, you’ll manage a portfolio of commercial motor claims from lodgement to resolution. These are typically straightforward claims (sedans, light vehicles, rental fleets) – but what sets this role apart is your ability to support others, manage escalations, and drive better outcomes through your leadership presence and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage 250–300 active motor claims end-to-end
- Handle all stages of the claims lifecycle including lodgement, liability, repairs, settlements and closure
- Work closely with suppliers and service partners to ensure smooth resolution
- Liaise with customers, brokers, and third parties with professionalism and empathy
- Act as a point of support for junior team members and share knowledge across the team
- Assist with training, coaching, and informal mentoring as needed
- Manage more complex claims within your delegated authority
- Help identify process improvements to drive better outcomes for customers and the business
- Stay up to date with industry trends and regulatory requirements
What You’ll Bring
- 2–3+ years’ experience in motor insurance claims
- Strong technical knowledge across motor claims processes
- Ability to manage high-volume portfolios while maintaining accuracy and service standards
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Confidence supporting team members and managing internal escalations
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Familiarity with the Insurance Contracts Act and relevant compliance frameworks
- A calm and solutions-focused approach to complex or sensitive matters
