Safety & Training Manager (FIFO)

Brightstar Resources (ASX: BTR) owns and operates the established Second Fortune Gold Mine and the newly launched Fish Gold Mine in the Laverton Goldfields region of Western Australia. Our operations are expanding, and we have created a new onsite/FIFO leadership role in the health and safety team to drive our focus on safety at the local level.

This is a newly created role for a Safety and Training Manager, working across our two active mine sites and head office in Subiaco. You will:

• Provide leadership to onsite H&S teams, and build strong partnerships with senior leaders onsite.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Develop, maintain, and embed our Mine Safety Management System and H&S strategies in partnership with the Group OHS Manager.
• Conduct full competency-based assessments or VOC Assessments for underground disciplines.
• Conduct underground, workplace, plant and equipment inspections, audits and safe tasks observations.
• Prepare sites and teams for government inspections.

You will have previous experience in a similar leadership position across one or more underground (mandatory) operational and open pit (optional) sites, have led medical and H&S teams, be familiar with underground mobile equipment, and have a working knowledge of WHS / DMIRS Acts, Regulations and reporting requirements. In addition you will hold a Diploma or tertiary qualifications in WHS (or similar discipline), a current First Aid Certificate and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
