An exciting opportunity exists at The Gap State High School for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent Teacher Aide role, in inclusion support.

This role is offered on a permanent part-time basis, at 0.79 FTE and 60 hours per fortnight.

We're seeking an enthusiastic team player with a proactive approach to support classroom activities, student welfare, and administrative tasks, with training provided as needed.

Your Role

As a Teacher Aide you will contribute to the provision of a quality educational service by assisting and supporting teachers with the preparation and enhancement of learning materials and associated activities.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Provide in-class support for students with complex specialised learning & behavioural needs as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Support students in reading activities and other literacy and numeracy duties.
  • Assist teachers and students with sporting activities and school excursions.
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate high levels of interpersonal skills to function as an effective team member.
  • Show respect, empathy, confidentiality, tact, reliability, and sensitivity to students and their families.
  • Provide clerical assistance including typing, duplicating teaching materials, and organising off-site activities.
  • Assist in preparing, storing, making available, and clearing away teaching equipment and materials.
  • Support teaching staff with playground and bus supervision.
  • Contribute to the welfare, health, and safety of students including delivering first aid.
  • Assist in science demonstrations, textile and cooking classes, and locating reference materials.
  • Perform other suitable duties as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.
