How You Can Make a Difference
Are you passionate about transforming complex medical information into clear, engaging content that makes a difference? The Heart Foundation is looking for an experienced Senior Medical Writer to join our Clinical Evidence team.
In this pivotal role, you will develop high-quality, evidence-based materials for both consumers and health professionals. From position statements and guidelines to brochures, press releases, and blogs - you’ll craft communications that support better heart health outcomes for all Australians.
This is your opportunity to lead the standardisation of our editorial style and contribute to a unified, trusted voice in cardiovascular health communications.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop, check accuracy and edit a wide range of materials including brochures, clinical guidelines, websites, presentations, and social media content.
- Create and implement editorial standards to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across all publications.
- Translate complex scientific information into accessible language for varied audiences.
- Work closely with internal teams and external consultants to produce culturally appropriate materials.
- Maintain an annual publication calendar and manage timelines for resource updates and new content.
- Provide writing coaching and guidance to colleagues to elevate internal communication standards.
What You'll Bring
- A degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Health or Life Sciences (higher degree preferred).
- Proven experience as a medical or scientific writer/editor across a range of media.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and audience relevance.
- Deep understanding of medical terminology and research principles.
- Expertise in plain language communication and health literacy best practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office and referencing software.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work autonomously.
