About the job:
The SMP Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the execution and coordination of structural, mechanical, and piping (SMP) work packages on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project. This role requires strong technical expertise in SMP disciplines, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Your Day to Day Responsibilities:
About You:
Our ideal candidate will hold an Australian-recognised Trade Certificate in a relevant discipline (Welding, Pipefitting, Boiler making or Mechanical Fitting). Approx. 7+ years of SMP construction experience on EPC/EPCM projects within the Oil, Gas and Energy industry, with strong expertise across piping, structural steel, rotating equipment, and both brownfield and greenfield environments.. You will be a proven leader with strong experience in planning and problem-solving skills, a solid grasp of HSE regulations and are proficient in interpreting technical drawings, project tools and Microsoft Office.

Your Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage detailed work plans and schedules for SMP construction activities in coordination with the project team.
- Ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and drawings by coordinating closely with engineering and procurement.
- Supervise and lead a team of SMP supervisors, trades, and craft workers, ensuring clear communication and direction.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by leading HSE practices, including toolbox talks and incident investigations.
- Monitor SMP progress and implement corrective actions to meet project milestones and deadlines.
- Ensure work quality through inspections, compliance with specifications, and coordination with QA/QC to resolve issues.
- Foster a high-performing team environment through training, development, and promoting collaboration.
- Liaise with project stakeholders and other discipline leads to integrate SMP activities smoothly with broader construction efforts.
