The VET Trainer and Assessor will assist by supporting training and assessment across the VET qualifications, whilst governing regulatory requirements and focusing on the student experience.

Provide guidance and support to our students with the delivery of our student study sessions, marking assessments, updating training materials to ensure that we provide a learning experience that is above industry standard.

Responsibilities

Providing training delivery and assessment support

  • Deliver engaging training – facilitate structured, high quality, and culturally responsive training and assessment, ensuring alignment with training plans and schedules.
  • Provide student support – assist students in successfully completing their qualification by addressing learning needs, delivering scheduled webinars, and handling support enquiries and escalations as required.
  • Undertake assessment – mark assessments and provide timely feedback within SLA to ensure student progress and competency
  • Maintain regulatory and industry compliance – maintain vocational currency as required by the regulator and collaborate with the Compliance Team to align delivery with student experience and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate to support students – Collaborate with the Learning Capability team in scheduling training support, setting webinar schedules, and other student support needs.

To assist the team in training and assessment matters

  • Engage with stakeholders – build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives
  • Participate in resource improvements – Participate in review, validation, and continuous improvement of training resources and assessments
  • Align training materials – Assess qualification materials to ensure subject matter expertise (SME) accuracy and alignment with an optimal student experience
  • Identify and report risks – proactively identify and report risks to relevant Lead or Head of Department.

Support student and learning management systems

  • Troubleshoot LMS/SMS – Support users in their use of the LMS/SMS, including responding to queries, troubleshooting issues, and technical resolution
  • Ensure accurate student data – Ensure accurate governance and management of student and course data in ORION
  • Identify continuous improvement – Participate in the ongoing development of LMS/SMS by providing input on improvements that enhance processes and operational efficiency

Key Qualifications/Experience

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification according to the Standards for RTOs
  • BSB50920 Diploma of Quality Auditing or equivalent qualification or units of competency
  • Recent industry experience in Quality Auditing roles or evidence of recent industry skills and knowledge
  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience working in an RTO
  • At least 2 years’ experience in training, coaching or teaching
  • Updated professional development in VET in the last two years
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent time and task management skills, including delegation, where required
  • Ability to shift priorities and work processes depending on risk or business needs
