Your Opportunity:
The Ophthalmology team provides outpatient, inpatient, telehealth and surgical services to the community within the Children's Hospital and Health Service (CHHS) and in outreach clinics in the Cairns and Hinterland and Townsville Health Services.
The ophthalmology team consists of ophthalmologists, fellows, registrars, house officers, orthoptists, optometrists and dedicated outpatient nurses and administration officers.
The ophthalmology team provide comprehensive paediatric eye care, including general paediatric ophthalmology, strabismus and amblyopia, oculoplastics, retinopathy of prematurity, retinoblastoma, surgical retina, glaucoma, uveitis and anterior segment diseases.
The position of Orthoptist will:
Deliver paediatric orthoptic clinical and consultancy services in the tertiary hospital setting at the Queensland Children's Hospital and provide consultancy across CHQ HHS and state-wide services across the continuum of care (acute, sub-acute and ambulatory settings).
Coordinate and assist the delivery of clinical services and maintain clinical excellence and high standards of care.
Support the strategic objectives of the paediatric services in the orthoptic stream at both an HHS and state level under the leadership of the Director of Ophthalmology.
